They differ in almost every possible way, except one: All have done brilliant, brave things to lift up their communities. They have fought for better nutrition, health, employment and  education. The City Champions project, a partnership among The Guardian,  Ideastream and The Plain Dealer, aims to give these individuals and  groups proper recognition. Last summer we asked our readers to nominate potential champions.  Almost 400 of you responded. There could easily have been 50 winners.  Eventually, a panel of judges selected 25. We are announcing all the winners now, along with brief descriptions  of what they’ve done.
